Sevilla sign Nasri on loan from City

French midfielder Samir Nasri has joined La Liga side Sevilla from Manchester City on a season-long loan deal, both sides confirmed on Wednesday.

Nasri scored 27 goals and won two Premier League titles in five years in Manchester, but after an injury-plagued 2015/16 season, new City boss Pep Guardiola had criticised his condition when he returned to pre-season overweight.

“The attacker arrives on loan from Manchester City until June 30 2017 without an option to buy,” Sevilla said in a statement.

After making a strong impression as a substitute for the last 15 minutes of City’s 3-1 win over West Ham on Sunday, Guardiola even opened the door for Nasri to stay and fight for his place at the Etihad.

Eliaquim Mangala in Valencia for medicals

Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala has had a medical ahead of a move to Valencia, according to reports.

Mangala, who started 24 Premier League games for City last season, is expected to join Valencia on loan for the remainder for the season.

Defender Shkodran Mustafi left Valencia for Arsenal on Tuesday in a deal that could be worth up to £35m to the La Liga side

Managla, who was part of France’s squad for this summer’s European Championships, does not appear to feature in manager Pep Guardiola’s immediate plans.

Guardiola has already reinforced his defence with the acquisition of John Stones this summer, with Nicolas Otamendi partnering the England international at centre-back in City’s last two Premier League games.

Mangala, 25, joined City in a £32m deal from Porto two years ago.

Bony join Stoke on loan from Man City

Stoke City have signed striker Wilfried Bony from Manchester City on a season-long loan, the Premier League clubs announced on Wednesday.

Ivorian Bony, 27, has been a bit-part player at City since signing from Swansea City in January 2015, with Argentina’s Sergio Aguero leading the line at the club.

Martial needs to be more consistent


Manchester United’s Anthony Martial needs to show greater consistency, France coach Didier Deschamps has said.

Martial enjoyed a strong start to his United career since signing from Monaco in September, scoring 11 goals in 31 Premier League games last campaign but has been unable to find the back of the net under manager Jose Mourinho.

Serge Gnabry set for Werder Bremen unveiling

Fulham in talks with Emmanuel Adebayor

Fulham are in discussions with striker Emmanuel Adebayor, according to Sky sources.

The 32-year-old is available on a free transfer after his short-term contract with Crystal Palace expired at the end of the season.

The former Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham forward made seven appearances and scored one goal for Alan Pardew’s side after joining on a six-month deal in January.

Adebayor, who in May told Sky Sports he hoped to stay with Palace, was reported to be of interested to Turkish side Caykur Rizespor earlier this month.

Rizespor coach Hikmet Karaman claimed a deal had been ‘agreed in principle’ to reunite Adebayor with former Arsenal team-mate Mathieu Flamini at the Super Lig club.

Malaga owner hints at Isco’s return

Ballotelli set to join Nice

Liverpool’s outcast Italian striker Mario Balotelli was to have a medical at French side Nice on Wednesday amid transfer deadline day talks between the clubs, l’Equipe newspaper reported.

The 26-year-old could be sold or loaned to Nice, the report said. Once one of the biggest hopes in Europe, Balotelli has not played for Italy since the 2014 World Cup and has been told he is not wanted by Liverpool coach Juergen Klopp.

Tomas Rosicky returns to former club Sparta Prague

Former Arsenal star Tomas Rosicky has returned to former club Sparta Prague, 15 years after leaving the Czech giants.

“I’m really glad to be back. I’m really looking forward to it,”  said Rosicky after he was unveiled on a two-year contract.

“I’m not coming here just to play. I’m coming here to win.

“The coach Zdenek Scasny gave me my first chance in the top division. It’s unbelievable we meet here again.”

Sparta’s co-owner Daniel Kretinsky added on the club’s Twitter feed: “We believe Tomas will help Sparta both on and off the pitch. He’s an extraordinary personality.

“Tomas should focus on his player role now, but I hope he’ll continue at Sparta even after the end of his career.”

Rosicky was given a guard of honour by Arsenal on the final day of last season when his contract expired with Arsene Wenger’s side.

The 35-year-old, whose 10-year spell in north London was hampered by injuries, spent three seasons with boyhood team Sparta before joining Dortmund in 2001 for a Bundesliga record fee.

Rosicky, who has 105 international caps, sustained a thigh injury during Euro 2016 and has recently been training with the Gunners to regain his fitness.

The Czech Republic captain has yet to announce if he will continue with the national team.

Albrighton to stay at Leicester until 2020

Marc Albrighton has become the latest Leicester City player to commit himself to the club after the Premier League champions announced he had signed a new four-year contract on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old former Aston Villa winger played a key role in Leicester’s 5 000-1 title triumph last season.

Gabriel Barbosa joins Inter Milan on a five-year deal from Santos

Inter Milan have signed Brazil striker Gabriel “Gabigol” Barbosa on a five-year deal from Santos on the player’s 20th birthday.

Inter had been leading the race for the Santos prospect, who is in Ecuador preparing to play in World Cup qualifying matches with the Selecao.

He passed his medical over the weekend and the Nerazzurri are reported to have agreed a fee of around €25 million with Santos for the services of the forward, who starred for Brazil at the Olympic Games.

Premier League summer transfers smash through £1 billion barrier

Premier League clubs have now spent more than £1 billion on transfers in the summer window.

The league had already broken its own transfer record last week, when Manchester City’s signing of Barcelona goalkeeper Claudio Bravo pushed clubs’ gross spending up to £880 million — topping the £870m of last summer.

Arsenal completed the signing of Germany defender Shkodran Mustafi from Valencia for a reported fee of £35 million on Tuesday night, which smashed through the £1bn mark with another day of dealing to go.

It is the fourth successive summer that a new record has been set for Premier League spending.

Hull became the 12th club to break their transfer record this window when Ryan Mason moved to the KCOM Stadium from Tottenham.

FA charged Aguero with violent conduct

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero is in danger of missing the Manchester derby after he was charged with violent conduct by England’s Football Association on Tuesday.

The charge relates to an incident during City’s 3-1 home win over West Ham United last Sunday when Aguero appeared to swing his left elbow towards visiting defender Winston Reid.

Crystal Palace in line to sign Wilshere from Arsenal

Crystal Palace are leading the way to sign Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere on loan on transfer deadline day, according to British newspaper reports.

A club source has told ESPN FC that Arsenal are looking to send Wilshere out on loan this season to give the midfielder a chance to revive his injury-plagued career.

Super Eagle starts training under new coach

Gernot Rohr had his first training session with the Super Eagles on Tuesday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

The session lasted exactly 35 minutes with the team concentrating only on light workouts and stretches.

Twenty players took part in the session which got underway at exactly 6:25 pm with Rohr flagging off proceedings with a short meeting with the players and backroom staff on the pitch for about five minutes.

The players then proceeded to jog around the pitch for about five minutes before embarking on another five minute session with emphasis laid on stretching exercises.

Rohr then divided the group into two with each engaging in a mini game of head tennis.

Rooney might quit England after 2018 World Cup

Wayne Rooney will end his England career after the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the striker said on Tuesday.

Gent confirm signing Rabiu Ibrahim

Belgian club KAA Gent have completed the signing of Nigerian midfielder Rabiu Ibrahim on a three-year deal.

The 25-year-old creative midfielder joined The Buffalos from Slovakian champions AS Trencin on Tuesday after passing his medical test and has already been described as “an elegant player” by the club.

“KAA Gent has today completed the transfer of the 25-year-old Nigerian central midfielder Rabiu Ibrahim. Rabiu comes from the Slovakian side AS Trencin,” the club announced on Tuesday.

The Belgian outfit, which also have another Nigerian, Moses Simon, also signed from AS Trencin, believes that they have landed a player “with great technical ability.”

Barcelona manager delay contract extension talks

Barcelona and coach Luis Enrique have agreed to put off talks on a contract extension until early next year, club President Josep Maria Bartomeu said.

Luis Enrique is in his third season in charge of Barca and recently said he would only consider his future at the end of the campaign when his current deal runs out.

Barca are determined to keep the 46-year-old, who has won eight trophies out of a possible 10 in his two years as coach, beyond next year.

Arsenal sign new striker from Perez La liga

Arsenal have signed striker Lucas Perez from Spanish club Deportivo La Coruna, the Premier League club said on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old netted 19 goals in all competitions last season, including a run of seven goals in seven successive games to equal the record of former Brazilian striker Bebeto.

Perez, who also scored in Deportivo’s opening La Liga win over Eibar this season, will fit into Arsenal’s possession based football, according to manager Arsene Wenger.

“He’s not only a goalscorer, he’s a guy who combines well with partners, who can give a final ball and makes good runs, Wenger said.

Napoli do not need Edinson Cavani to return to the club as he would struggle to fit back into the team, according to president Aurelio De Laurentiis.

Uruguay international Cavani spent three years in Naples before his big-money move to Paris Saint-Germain in 2013.

Luis Alberto bid accepted by Liverpool

Liverpool have accepted a £6m bid for Spanish winger Luis Alberto from Serie A club Lazio, according to Sky sources.

Lazio will pay £4.3m up front, with an additional £1.7m due to Liverpool if certain criteria are met. There is also a 30 per cent sell-on clause in the deal.

The 23-year-old attacker will now travel to Rome to finalise personal terms in readiness for the new season.
