Super Eagle starts training under new coach

Gernot Rohr had his first training session with the Super Eagles on Tuesday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

The session lasted exactly 35 minutes with the team concentrating only on light workouts and stretches.

Twenty players took part in the session which got underway at exactly 6:25 pm with Rohr flagging off proceedings with a short meeting with the players and backroom staff on the pitch for about five minutes.

The players then proceeded to jog around the pitch for about five minutes before embarking on another five minute session with emphasis laid on stretching exercises.

Rohr then divided the group into two with each engaging in a mini game of head tennis.

The session ended at about 7:10 pm with the players looking sharp and enthusiastic.

Spokesman of the team, Toyin Ibitoye said after the session explained that the three players who missed out on the first exercise would report to camp on Wednesday and Thursday.

“Carl Ikeme, Moses Simon and Kingsley Madu will come in on Wednesday and Thursday.

They have explained to the coach why they are not in Uyo at this moment and there is nothing to worry about.

“Rohr’s first session as you saw was a light one. He is a very experienced coach who will do well for this country but we just urge Nigerians to support him,” he said.
