A Spanish judge has summoned Jose Mourinho to answer questions regarding accusations of tax fraud.

The Manchester United manager, who is from Portugal but previously coached in Spain, has been called to appear before a judge in a Madrid-based court on Nov. 3.

Ostapenko crashes out of Wuhan Open

Australia’s Ashleigh Barty crushed French Open winner Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia 6-3, 6-0 on Friday, cruising into the final at the Wuhan Open.

Barty, who began 2017 ranked outside the top 300, will face Maria Sakkari or Caroline Garcia in her first Premier 5 tournament final.

Benteke out for at least six weeks

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has revealed that he expects to be without striker Christian Benteke for at least six weeks due to the injury suffered against Manchester City.

The Belgium international hobbled off with a quarter of the match left to play at the Etihad Stadium, leaving the Eagles fearful of serious damage to his knee.

Hodgson has now confirmed that Benteke did indeed suffer ligament damage in the 5-0 defeat last Saturday, which will likely keep him out of action until the end of November. Place Bet on Today’s Matches on

“He’s got ligament damage which will keep him out for a minimum of six weeks,” Hodgson told reporters. “We don’t think he’ll be able to train for six weeks.”

Palace, who will also be without Wilfried Zaha and Ruben Loftus-Cheek for this weekend’s trip to Manchester United, are reportedly looking at free agents Rickie Lambert and Carlton Cole to fill the void left by Benteke.

Pep: I need trophies to save my City job

Spanish manager, Pep Guardiola has admitted that his Manchester City tenure will ultimately be judged on how many trophies he wins during his time at the club.

The Catalan coach endured his first trophyless campaign in senior management during his maiden term at the Etihad Stadium last time out.

Much like in 2016-17, the Citizens have started the current season on fire by winning eight and drawing one of their first nine fixtures in all competitions. Place Bet on Today’s Matches on

However, Guardiola concedes that he must get off the mark with his first piece of silverware in English football if he is to keep his job at City.

“I cannot deny it is to win titles. Everybody expects that,” he told BBC Sport. “We are going to be judged on how many titles we win. [Without that], we will be a failure. We know that.

“I do not know what is going to happen in the future. I am so happy to be here. But it will depend on the success we have. At big clubs like Manchester City, if you do not win you cannot stay.”

City currently lead the way in the Premier League table by virtue of a superior goal difference over neighbours Manchester United.

Haye, Bellew agree to fight again in London

Tony Bellew and David Haye have agreed terms for a heavyweight rematch in December.

Bellew stepped up to heavyweight to beat former world champion Haye in London in March, but the fact Haye fought for five of their 11 rounds with a ruptured Achilles left more questions than answers.

There was plenty of bad blood between the pair in the build-up to the first fight and now, with Haye fit again, the pair will have a rematch at the 02 Arena on December 17. Place Bet on Today’s Matches on

“I will have the exact same attitude I had going into the first fight – win at all costs,” said Bellew.

“I will be victorious on December 17 and I will end David Haye’s career. Another loss to me closes the curtain on the Hayemaker.
“This isn’t personal anymore, it’s strictly business. This is just another fight.”

Haye – the heavyweight champion between 2009 and 2011 – has rebuilt both his body and his team since the loss to Bellew, with Ismael Salas taking over from Shane McGuigan as his trainer.

He said: “I’m excited to give the public the rematch they truly crave, ever since the explosive first showdown earlier this year. On March 4, the script was thrown out the window and the unpredictability of sport revealed itself in its most raw form.

“He somehow won the lottery in our first fight, but believe me, he won’t win the lottery twice.”

FIFA hands Dele Alli one-match ban for offensive gesture

Dele Alli has been banned for one England match for making an obscene gesture during their World Cup qualifying win over Slovakia last month.

It had been feared he could miss the start of the finals in Russia were England to secure qualification. Place Bet on Today’s Matches on

Wenger hails Giroud on 100th Arsenal goal

Arsene Wenger has hailed Olivier Giroud for his ‘remarkable achievement’ after the Frenchman scored his 100th Arsenal goal against BATE Borisov on Thursday.

Having won their opening Europa League game against Cologne, the Gunners put their stamp on Group H with a 4-2 win in Belarus.

With Wenger’s side 3-1 up they were handed a remarkably soft penalty for a nudge on Rob Holding at a corner. Asensio has €700m buy-out clause in new Real deal

Marco Asensio has become the latest Real Madrid player to sign a contract extension at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. The former-Mallorca starlet will remain at Madrid until 2023, as Diario AS stated on July 16.

The new contract will include a buy-out clause of €700 million, although that figure could be revised in the future. Real Madrid are eager to avoid a situation like Barcelona had with Neymar, where a club met the player’s clause, rendering Barcelona unable to prevent his departure. Place Bet on Today’s Matches on

The 21-year-old has gained the full confidence of Zinedine Zidane since returning from a fruitful loan spell at Espanyol in 2016-17. This season he is Real Madrid’s second-top goal-scorer with four goals. Only Cristiano Ronaldo (five) has scored more.

Asensio becomes the latest Real Madrid player to extend his contract since the summer, following Marcelo (2022), Isco (2022), Karim Benzema (2021), Dani Carvajal (2021), and Marcos Llorente (2021), and Raphael Varane (2022).

Pogba out until mid-November

Manchester United are reportedly concerned that Paul Pogba’s injury could keep him out until after the international break in November. The France international has been out for the last three weeks with a hamstring problem, ending what had been a fine start to the season for him in United’s midfield.

Pogba only joined the Red Devils last summer for what was then a world-record £89million, and was starting to show his true potential after taking time to fully adjust to the Premier League. Place Bet on Today’s Matches on

However, United now fear Pogba’s injury could be worse than initially expected as they weigh up whether or not the 24-year-old should undergo surgery.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the club fear he is looking doubtful to return in time for the Chelsea game on November 5, with November 18 a more realistic target.

Jose Mourinho will be comforted by the form of midfielders Nemanja Matic and Marouane Fellaini so far this season, while he also has Ander Herrera and Michael Carrick as backup options.

United certainly don’t seem to be desperately missing Pogba at the moment with Romelu Lukaku’s goals firing the team to success game after game, but the club won’t want to be without their record signing for too long.

There is concern that Pogba’s injury is similar to the one suffered by Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele, who has been ruled out for three months. They are reported to have consulted Sakari Orava, a Finnish muscle repair specialist, about the injury but still remain unclear about how long Pogba will be out for.

Morata rates Hazard as world-class

Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata says he is finding it easy to combine with new team-mate Eden Hazard after making the move to Stamford Bridge this summer.

The 24-year-old has shone since joining the Blues from Real Madrid this season, netting seven times in his first eight appearances for the club.

However, he hasn’t yet spent a great deal of time on the pitch with Hazard, who missed the start of the campaign through injury and who is only just working his way back into the side. Place Bet on Today’s Matches on Continue reading “Morata rates Hazard as world-class”

PSG willing to offer Zidane record €25M-a-year

Zidane has only just signed a new contract with Real, however PSG are keen to bring him back to France, says Diario Gol.

PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi is willing to offer Zidane €25m-a-year, which would make him the highest paid coach in the world and place him in a similar salary bracket as Neymar and Barcelona star Lionel Messi. Place Bet on Today’s Matches on
