They are still in a good position in second and one point behind Liverpool but you have to assume the Reds will beat minnows FK Crvena Zvezda in the group’s other match. The winner of this match will likely go through to the next round.
This is a huge match for Paris Saint-Germain. They were largely dreadful against Napoli last time out and are currently third on four points after three matches. Failing to make it out of the group would be a disaster for Thomas Tuchel, Neymar and co. To make matters worse, the French giants have lost their last three away matches in the Champions League.
Aside from beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, the only teams PSG have managed to beat from home in the Champions League from their last 20 attempts are Anderlecht, Celtic, Basel, Ludogorets, Malmo, Shakhtar Donetsk and APOEL.
In that time, they have lost away to the likes of Barcelona three times, Real Madrid twice, as well as Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Manchester City. That is an incredibly bad record, which may continue in midweek.
Napoli- Carlo Ancelotti will have to decide between Dries Mertens or Arkadiusz Milik to partner Lorenzo Insigne up front against Paris Saint-Germain, though the former scored a hat-trick at the weekend and should get the nod here.
Adam Ounas and Faouzi Ghoulam were both fit enough to make the sub bench against Empoli at the weekend, though neither are expected any game time here.
Jose Callejon, Allan, Raúl Albiol, David Ospina, Fabián Ruiz and Marek Hamsik will all come back into the starting XI on Tuesday night after sitting out from the start against Empoli.
Paris Saint Germain- Gianluigi Buffon is free to make his Champions League debut for Paris Saint-Germain after serving a suspension carried over from last season. PSG head coach Thomas Tuchel confirmed last week the Italian will start in Naples.
Thiago Silva is finally fit again and will start against Napoli after missing the reverse fixture through injury. PSG were much better when they changed to a back-three against Napoli last time out in the competition and Tuchel is expected to go with that here.
Edinson Cavani is a doubt for PSG but the former Napoli striker will be desperate to start against his former club on Tuesday night. Angel Di Maria has been in great form this season and will reportedly start at left wing-back for the away side.
Presnel Kimpembe missed Friday’s 2-1 win over Lille through suspension and is expected to get the nod in PSG’s back three over Thilo Kehrer, though that may depend on where Tuchel opts to play Marquinhos. Julian Draxler could get the nod ahead of Adrien Rabiot in central midfield.
There have been over 2.5 goals scored in PSG’s last 18 games in UEFA Champions League.
PSG have scored at least 2 goals in their last 3 Champions League matches.
