Saka ‘Dream come true’ as he shines for Arsenal in Europe

Teenage winger Bukayo Saka said it was a “dream come true” to score his first goal for Arsenal in their 3-0 victory away to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League.

Saka, 18, claimed his first senior goal Thursday as Arsenal scored twice late on after Joe Willock gave the Gunners a first-half lead in Germany.

Saka showed great composure to score Arsenal’s second goal on 85 minutes shortly after Frankfurt were reduced to 10 men when midfielder Dominik Kohr was sent off for a second yellow card.

He then set up Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for the Gunners’ third goal after audaciously robbing Frankfurt captain David Abraham just before the final whistle.

“I’m so happy to score for Arsenal, it’s a dream come true – I have been dreaming of this moment since I was a kid,” said Saka, making only his second Europa League start. Various Betting options are available on Site

“I just want to keep working hard to make sure I can feel this feeling again.”

Champions League Match Preview: Borussia Dortmund vs Barcelona

Borussia Dortmund warmed up for Tuesday’s encounter with Barcelona with an impressive 4-0 win over Bundesliga rivals Bayer Leverkusen.

Barcelona thrashed Spanish rivals Valencia 5-2 at the weekend and now have Lionel Messi back available to boost their confidence even more.

Barcelona have conceded twice in each of their last three games, which will offer Dortmund a lot of encouragement on Tuesday.

This match promises to be a highly entertaining match between two teams stacked with attacking talent. Various bet options are available on NaijaBet

Champions League Match Preview: Napoli vs Liverpool

Napoli beat Sampdoria 2-0 over the weekend, while Liverpool were forced to come from behind to beat Newcastle 3-1 on Saturday.

Liverpool and Napoli were also drawn in the same Champions League group last season, with both side winning one match each.

Both teams shared 1-0 home wins and another tight game should be expected on Tuesday.

Liverpool didn’t even manage a shot on target in this fixture last season, but it would be a surprise if Napoli’s defence managed to repeat that feat here. Bet Now on NaijaBet

Napoli- Lorenzo Insigne recovered from injury to feature as a substitute in Napoli’s 2-0 win over Sampdoria over the weekend and should be fine to start on Tuesday. Continue reading “Champions League Match Preview: Napoli vs Liverpool”

Premier League Match Preview: Liverpool vs Newcastle United

Liverpool breezed past Burnley prior to the international break and remain the only side to win their opening four matches of the Premier League season. The Reds are unbeaten in their last 40 home league games, so are clear favourites coming into this clash.

Newcastle’s sole win, however, came on the road, as they beat Tottenham 1-0 in London on their last away match. That said, they have failed to win their last six visits to Merseyside, which includes a 4-0 thumping in this game last season.

Newcastle will set out to frustrate Liverpool, and while it may take time for the Reds to pry them open, the hosts should come away with a fifth win from five league games this term.

Team News

Liverpool- Jurgen Klopp has no fresh injury concerns following the international break as they gear up for the welcome of Newcastle.

Alisson, Nathaniel Clyne and Naby Keita all continue to miss out, however. Start forecasting your weekend games now on NaijaBet

Celtic cruise into Europa League group draw in styles

Celtic cruised into the Europa League group stage on Thursday, the Scottish champions crushing Swedish club AIK 4-1 in their play-off second leg.

James Forrest opened the scoring after a one-two with Odsonne Edouard as Celtic comfortably secured their place in Friday’s draw 6-1 on aggregate.

That was Forrest’s seventh goal in his last eight games.

Sebastian Larsson then gave AIK a glimmer of hope from the penalty spot but a minute later Mikey Johnston had his low cross fumbled over the line by AIK keeper Oscar Linner.

Late goals from Christopher Jullien and Lewis Morgan rounded off a good night’s work by Neil Lennon’s side in the Solna Arena.  Start forecasting your Weekend Games Now on NaijaBet

But Lennon was left worrying over the fitness of Kristoffer Ajer, who went off injured early to make him a major doubt for Sunday’s visit to Rangers.

Premier League Match Preview: Liverpool vs Arsenal

Liverpool and Arsenal are the only sides with 100 per cent records in the Premier League after two matches.

Arsenal do not have fond recent memories of Anfield but are at least in a better place heading into Saturday’s meeting.

Liverpool have scored 22 goals in their last six home matches against Arsenal and are the favourites heading into this match.

Liverpool –  Adrian recovered from an ankle injury to start against Southampton last weekend and will continue here with Alisson still sidelined.

Dejan Lovren and Naby Keita are still doubts for Liverpool but neither would have started anyway.

Joel Matip and Joe Gomez are in competition for a starting berth alongside Virgil van Dijk. The latter could get the nod here to combat Arsenal’s pace in attack.

Fabinho and Jordan Henderson will return to the starting XI after dropping to the bench against Southampton. Various betting options are available for this weekend games on NaijaBet

Georginio Wijnaldum, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner are in competition for the final spot in midfield.

Premier League Match Preview: Wolves vs Manchester United

Wolves drew their opening league game of the season 0-0 with Leicester, while Manchester United thumped Chelsea 4-0.

Wolves were a revelation in the Premier League last season and took more points off the top-six than any other side outside the elite clubs.
Wolves were unbeaten in three matches against United last season and beat them twice in that time.

Fatigue could prove a slight issue for Wolves after playing in the Europa League on Thursday but they should more than fancy their chances of causing United problems on Monday tonight.

Team News

Wolves- Wolves were involved in Europa League action on Thursday but expect a much-changed team here to the side that faced Pyunik in midweek despite some impressive performances.

Nuno’s side started their Premier League campaign with a 0-0 draw with Leicester and are expected to go with much of the same side here. Bet Now on NaijaBet

Summer arrivals like Patrick Cutrone and Jesus Vallejo will not be rushed in the starting XI, meaning both will likely have to settle for a place on the bench on Monday night. Continue reading “Premier League Match Preview: Wolves vs Manchester United”

Laliga Match Preview: Athletic Bilbao vs Barcelona

Athletic Club have endured a mixed pre-season, ending a four-game winless run with a 2-1 victory over Mirandes in their last friendly before the start of the 2019/20 LaLiga campaign.

Athletic Club are unbeaten in their last 14 home games in the Spanish top-flight, a key reason why Gaizka Garitano’s take-over at the helm proved to be such a success last season.

Barcelona have picked up some momentum with four consecutive wins at the end of their pre-season preparations. After winning consecutive league titles, Barcelona will have their eyes on number four.

Super Cup Match Preview: Liverpool vs Chelsea

Liverpool started their season with a 4-1 win over Norwich on Friday, though they looked unusually vulnerable at the back. Now they have also lost first-choice goalkeeper Alisson for up to two months through injury.

Frank Lampard started life as Chelsea manager with a 4-0 defeat away to Manchester United and life doesn’t get any easier for the 41-year-old in midweek. Chelsea have also had two days fewer recovery for this match.

Chelsea have only lost one of their last six encounters with Liverpool but it would be a shock if they lifted the European Super Cup on Wednesday night.

Team News

Liverpool- Alisson has been ruled for a number of weeks with a calf injury sustained in Liverpool’s 4-1 win over Norwich on Friday. Summer signing Adrian will deputise.

Sadio Mane was only deemed fit enough for a place on the bench in Liverpool’s Premier League curtain-raiser but may come into the starting XI in midweek. Various betting options are available on NaijaBet

Premier League Match Preview: Manchester United vs Chelsea

Manchester United are unbeaten in their last six home league matches against Chelsea, though four of those games have ended in a draw.

Frank Lampard has already tasted victory at Old Trafford as a manager after his Derby side knocked United out of the League Cup last season.

Team News

Manchester United – Harry Maguire only signed for Manchester United at the start of the week but will make his full debut for the club on Sunday.

Fellow summer signings Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka will also make competitive debuts for the Red Devils when they host top-six rivals Chelsea this weekend.

Anthony Martial was deployed as the central striker in pre-season and the Frenchman is expected to start through the middle here, with Marcus Rashford on the left. Mason Greenwood should feature from the bench. Various betting options are available on NaijaBet

Eric Bailly is a long-term absentee with a back injury, while Alexis Sanchez won’t be considered for the rest of the month following his late return from the 2019 Copa America. Paul Pogba missed United’s final pre-season game with a back problem but it would be a surprise if he didn’t start here. Continue reading “Premier League Match Preview: Manchester United vs Chelsea”

Community Shield Match Preview: Manchester City vs Liverpool

With the new Premier League season just around the corner, fans will be hoping that the club’s top performers and star players from each side are ready to hit the ground running as soon as they take to the turf.

But can we expect both sides to be firing on all cylinders come Sunday? Perhaps not. Despite no World Cup dominating our screens this summer, there have been a number of other elite international competitions taking place across the globe, including the Africa Cup of Nations, the Concacaf Gold Cup and Copa America.

Team News

Liverpool- they have welcomed back Xherdan Shaqiri and Naby Keita following their respective injury lay-offs, while the likes of Alisson, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah have joined the club’s training camp in Evian.

Manchester City – There are no major injury issues concerning Guardiola, meanwhile, apart from long-term absentee Benjamin Mendy, while this weekend could see the introduction of Rodri, who has featured heavily throughout pre-season. The Super Eagles are heavily tipped to top Group B upon their return to the Nations Cup, after failing to qualify for last two editions. To achieve that, they will need a positive start against Burundi.

Burundi are making their debut at this year’s championship. They finished second in their qualifying group behind Mali having remained unbeaten, winning two of six.

UCLFinal Match Preview: Tottenham vs Liverpool

Tottenham secured their spot in the Champions League final in dramatic circumstances as they netted a last-minute winner in Amsterdam to book a place in Madrid.

That said, Spurs’ form has been indifferent in recent weeks with just two wins to their name from their last eight. Away from home, too, the north London side have been hugely underwhelming, losing nine of their last 11 matches on the road, though the two wins in that run were in the Champions League.

Liverpool will have been disappointed not to have been crowned Premier League champions have missed out on top spot by a solitary point. They’ll hope to go one better in the Champions League than they did last season after losing the final 3-1 to Real Madrid in Ukraine and have a decent recent record against Spurs having lost just one of their last 12 meetings between the two, winning seven in that run.

Liverpool won the two meetings between the pair 2-1 this season and a repeat of the scoreline is on the cards, with the Reds favourites to be crowned champions of Europe.

Team News

Tottenham- Harry Kane has given Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino a huge boost with the striker back in full training following an ankle injury and he could start here, with one of Son Heung-Min or hat-trick hero Lucas Moura set to miss out. Various betting options are available on site

Chelsea thrash Arsenal to become Europa League Champions

Eden Hazard scored twice and then admitted it was his parting gift as the Belgian’s brace helped Chelsea sweep away Arsenal to win 4-1 in the Europa League final in Baku.

This match started at 8 pm local time on Wednesday in Azerbaijan, but it was Thursday by the time it came to life with a flood of second-half goals started by Olivier Giroud’s 49th-minute opener against his old club.

UELFinal Match Preview: Chelsea vs Arsenal

Chelsea are unbeaten in their last seven matches in all competitions (W3, D4). Maurizio Sarri needs to win on Wednesday to boost his chances of avoiding the sack.

Unai Emery has great pedigree in this competition and his past experiences will certainly give Arsenal a shot of extra confidence against their London rivals.

Arsenal have only lost one of the previous six meetings between the two teams and the potential absence of N’Golo Kante will only make things more difficult for Chelsea.

Europa League Match Preview: Chelsea vs Eintracht Frankfurt

Chelsea are guarenteed Champions League football next season whether they win this competition or not after securing a top-four finish in the Premier League on Sunday. That should lift some of the pressure off of Chelsea’s shoulders here.

Frankfurt, meanwhile, were turned over 6-1 by Bayer Leverkusen at the weekend, with all six goals conceded coming in the first half. Unlike Chelsea, their hold of fourth place in their respective league is hanging by a thread and their confidence may be shattered coming into this match.

Chelsea haven’t lost at Stamford Bridge in more than two months and know they have the insurance of an away goal from the first leg, making them favourites here. Frankfurt should not be underestimated but it would be a surprise if Chelsea didn’t make the final from here.

Team News

Chelsea- Antonio Rudiger and Callum Hudson-Odoi are both long-term absentees for Chelsea. Maurizio Sarri has confirmed N’Golo Kante won’t play again this season unless Chelsea make the Europa League final. Bet Now on NaijaBet

With a top four finish secured, Mauzirio Sarri should go with his strongest available team on Thursday. It remains to be seen whether he will stick with Olivier Giroud, who is the competition’s top scorer, or go with regular first choice striker Gonzalo Higuain.

Champions League Match Preview: Liverpool vs Barcelona

Liverpool have it all to do in the second leg at Anfield, but with the fans in full voice, they’ll be confident of making things difficult for Barcelona. If they can nick an early goal, they’ll have the wind in their sails as they look to pull off a huge result to secure a Champions League final spot.

However, opponents Barcelona have already wrapped up the title and it saw Ernesto Valverde rest a number of first team regulars for the weekend loss at Celta Vigo. Prior to that loss, the Blaugrana were unbeaten in 11 away from home as they gun for European glory.

There promises to be an electric atmosphere at Anfield on Tuesday night, but if Lionel Messi shines once again, then it’s Barcelona who should secure their place in the Champions League final, particularly with Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino ruled out.

Team News

Liverpool- Naby Keita is out for the remainder of the season with a groin injury sustained in the first leg, which should lead to a midfield three of Georgino Wijnaldum, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.  Various betting options are available on site, Bet Now on NaijaBet

Europa League Match Preview: Arsenal vs Valencia

Arsenal lost their home match, ending an eight-game winning run at the Emirates. They also conceded more goals in their defeat to Crystal Palace (3) than those wins combined (2).

Valencia are unbeaten since dropping down from the Champions League to the Europa League (W5, D1) but have lost two games in a row heading into Thursday.

Arsenal are in even worse form, losing three on the spin since winning 1-0 away to Napoli in their Europa League semi-final second leg. This tie could go either way.

Team News

Arsenal- Mesut Ozil and Nacho Monreal are both doubts for Arsenal after missing Sunday’s 3-0 defeat to Leicester through injury. Bet Now

Ainsley Maitland-Niles was sent off at the weekend but is free to play in Europe.

Laurent Koscielny is expected back in the starting XI after only making the bench at the weekend. Shkodran Mustafi should drop out the team, which would mean missing out against his former club.

Alexandre Lacazette or Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang may drop to the bench on Thursday. Continue reading “Europa League Match Preview: Arsenal vs Valencia”

Champions League Match Preview: Barcelona vs Liverpool

Barcelona are unbeaten in their last 22 matches in all competitions and won La Liga at the weekend.

Liverpool have won 10 matches in a row in all competitions but have conceded in every Champions League away match this season.

Barcelona have only lost one game at home all season and that was back in November. Their aim will be to make it as difficult as possible for Liverpool in the return leg.

Champions League Match Preview: Tottenham vs Ajax

Tottenham lost their first ever game at their new stadium in a 1-0 loss to West Ham on Saturday and they’ll be looking to bounce back against a buoyant Ajax side. Spurs haven’t been wholly convincing of late having lost three of their last four competitive matches, with their sole success in that run coming against Brighton.

Ajax come into this tie on the back of an eight-match unbeaten run, with the only blip on the record in that time coming in a 1-1 draw with Juventus. The Dutch powerhouse have lost only one of their last 15 matches and come into this clash in London on a four-match away winning run.

Given Spurs’ midfield issues, and the absence of key forwards Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane, Ajax could secure a first leg advantage with a narrow win in England.

Premier League Match Preview: Manchester United vs Manchester City

Manchester United were humilated 4-0 by Everton on Sunday. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have lost six of their last eight matches in all competitions.

Manchester City have won 10 matches in a row in the Premier League and four in a row on the road.

Pep Guardiola’s side are unbeaten in their last three league games at Old Trafford and will run out comfortable winners in midweek.

Team News

Manchester United- Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would be well within his right to make 11 changes from the side that lost 4-0 to Everton on Easter Sunday.

The Manchester United manager is at least bolstered by the return of Luke Shaw, who is back from a two-match ban.

Ander Herrera has missed United’s last five matches but has returned to training and could be thrust into the starting XI in midweek.

Alexis Sanchez is also back from injury and could make his first start for United since the beginning of March. Juan Mata or Jesse Lingard should also come into the frame here. Place bet on Live Matches 24/7 on NaijaBet

Napoli are 2-0 behind on aggregate and may rue not scoring an away goal in London. Carlo Ancelotti’s side ended a three-match winless run at the weekend with a 3-1 victory over Chievo.

Arsenal kept their first Premier League clean sheet away from home of the season in Monday night, which will give them confidence heading to Naples.

The Gunners have only won three of their last 13 away matches in all competitions and have both their last two on the road in the Europa League.

Team News

UCL Match Preview: Manchester City vs Tottenham (Agg 0-1)

Manchester City have a one-goal deficit to make up having lost the first leg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium 1-0. City smashed Spurs 4-1 in their last welcome of the north London to the Etihad Stadium and supporters would welcome a repeat of that result and having won their last 12 home matches, they’ll be confident of securing the necessary result here.

Conversely, Tottenham have lost six of their last seven away matches, with their only win in that run coming at Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. Spurs, to their credit, have won five of their last six Champions League matches, but have their work cut out if they are to secure a semi-final spot.

Indeed, Spurs will make things difficult for City, but the home side have what it takes to secure the win required to earn their spot in the next round of the competition.

Team News

Manchester City- Pep Guardiola is without only Claudio Bravo for Wednesday’s welcome of Tottenham, with the Chilean goalkeeper still struggling for match fitness, though he wasn’t expected to start anyway, while Fernandinho will be assessed.

The Manchester City boss is expected to make a couple of changes from the first leg loss in north London for this must-win match. Live Bet on NaijaBet

Manchester United have gone completely off the boil in recent weeks and were fortunate to beat West Ham on Saturday. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have lost their last three away matches in all competitions.

You cannot completely write off United here after they overturned a bigger first leg deficit against Paris Saint-Germain in the last round but it would be absolutely remarkable if they managed to knock Barcelona out on Tuesday.
