Premier League Match Preview: Liverpool vs Newcastle United

Liverpool breezed past Burnley prior to the international break and remain the only side to win their opening four matches of the Premier League season. The Reds are unbeaten in their last 40 home league games, so are clear favourites coming into this clash.

Newcastle’s sole win, however, came on the road, as they beat Tottenham 1-0 in London on their last away match. That said, they have failed to win their last six visits to Merseyside, which includes a 4-0 thumping in this game last season.

Newcastle will set out to frustrate Liverpool, and while it may take time for the Reds to pry them open, the hosts should come away with a fifth win from five league games this term.

Premier League Match Preview: Liverpool vs Arsenal

Liverpool and Arsenal are the only sides with 100 per cent records in the Premier League after two matches.

Arsenal do not have fond recent memories of Anfield but are at least in a better place heading into Saturday’s meeting.

Liverpool have scored 22 goals in their last six home matches against Arsenal and are the favourites heading into this match.

Liverpool –  Adrian recovered from an ankle injury to start against Southampton last weekend and will continue here with Alisson still sidelined.

Dejan Lovren and Naby Keita are still doubts for Liverpool but neither would have started anyway.

Joel Matip and Joe Gomez are in competition for a starting berth alongside Virgil van Dijk. The latter could get the nod here to combat Arsenal’s pace in attack.

Fabinho and Jordan Henderson will return to the starting XI after dropping to the bench against Southampton. Various betting options are available for this weekend games on NaijaBet

Georginio Wijnaldum, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner are in competition for the final spot in midfield.

Premier League Match Preview: Wolves vs Manchester United

Wolves drew their opening league game of the season 0-0 with Leicester, while Manchester United thumped Chelsea 4-0.

Wolves were a revelation in the Premier League last season and took more points off the top-six than any other side outside the elite clubs.
Wolves were unbeaten in three matches against United last season and beat them twice in that time.

Fatigue could prove a slight issue for Wolves after playing in the Europa League on Thursday but they should more than fancy their chances of causing United problems on Monday tonight.

Team News

Wolves- Wolves were involved in Europa League action on Thursday but expect a much-changed team here to the side that faced Pyunik in midweek despite some impressive performances.

Nuno’s side started their Premier League campaign with a 0-0 draw with Leicester and are expected to go with much of the same side here. Bet Now on NaijaBet

Premier League Match Preview: Manchester United vs Chelsea

Manchester United are unbeaten in their last six home league matches against Chelsea, though four of those games have ended in a draw.

Frank Lampard has already tasted victory at Old Trafford as a manager after his Derby side knocked United out of the League Cup last season.

Team News

Manchester United – Harry Maguire only signed for Manchester United at the start of the week but will make his full debut for the club on Sunday.

Fellow summer signings Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka will also make competitive debuts for the Red Devils when they host top-six rivals Chelsea this weekend.

Anthony Martial was deployed as the central striker in pre-season and the Frenchman is expected to start through the middle here, with Marcus Rashford on the left. Mason Greenwood should feature from the bench. Various betting options are available on NaijaBet

Eric Bailly is a long-term absentee with a back injury, while Alexis Sanchez won’t be considered for the rest of the month following his late return from the 2019 Copa America. Community Shield Match Preview: Manchester City vs Liverpool

With the new Premier League season just around the corner, fans will be hoping that the club’s top performers and star players from each side are ready to hit the ground running as soon as they take to the turf.

But can we expect both sides to be firing on all cylinders come Sunday? Perhaps not. Despite no World Cup dominating our screens this summer, there have been a number of other elite international competitions taking place across the globe, including the Africa Cup of Nations, the Concacaf Gold Cup and Copa America.

Premier League Match Preview: Manchester United vs Manchester City

Manchester United were humilated 4-0 by Everton on Sunday. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have lost six of their last eight matches in all competitions.

Manchester City have won 10 matches in a row in the Premier League and four in a row on the road.

Pep Guardiola’s side are unbeaten in their last three league games at Old Trafford and will run out comfortable winners in midweek.

Team News

Manchester United- Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would be well within his right to make 11 changes from the side that lost 4-0 to Everton on Easter Sunday.

The Manchester United manager is at least bolstered by the return of Luke Shaw, who is back from a two-match ban.

Ander Herrera has missed United’s last five matches but has returned to training and could be thrust into the starting XI in midweek.

Alexis Sanchez is also back from injury and could make his first start for United since the beginning of March. Juan Mata or Jesse Lingard should also come into the frame here. Place bet on Live Matches 24/7 on NaijaBet

Premier League Match Preview: Southampton vs Liverpool

Three wins from their last four has moved Southampton five points clear of the relegation zone and they’ll be eager to land a third successive home league win when Liverpool make the trip to St. Mary’s.

They have lost only one of their last four at home to Liverpool, though the Reds will be looking to lay down a marker with Manchester City in FA Cup action at the weekend.

The Reds’ late winner at the weekend pushed them back to the top of the table, but they could be second by the time this match kicks off. Jurgen Klopp’s side are unbeaten in their last 11 league matches and have kept a clean sheet in their last four meetings with Southampton.

Saints have been solid at home of late, but Liverpool have the means to secure another three points here.

Team News

Southampton- Jannik Vestergaard and Michael Obafemi are both ruled out for Southampton here. Various betting options are available on site for this weekend.

Shane Long missed the 1-0 win at Brighton, but is set to be part of the squad after returning to training, which is a boost as Danny Ings is unable to play his parent club.

Mario Lemina is also back to full fitness and will hope to be involved. Continue reading “Premier League Match Preview: Southampton vs Liverpool”

Premier League Match Preview: Manchester City vs Cardiff

Manchester City will go one point clear of Liverpool if they win their game in hand at home to Cardiff on Wednesday. Pep Guardiola’s side have won their last 12 home matches in all competitions.

Cardiff were beating Chelsea 1-0 up until the last six minutes of normal time before falling foul of a terrible piece of officiating and losing 2-1. That defeat could end up costing them their Premier League status.

Cardiff would have only been two points off safety if they managed to hold on and beat Chelsea on Sunday but now they are five points adrift and unlikely to improve their position on Wednesday.

Team News

Manchester City- Sergio Aguero came off as a precaution in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Fulham and will not be risked here. Gabriel Jesus would be his obvious replacement but Raheem Sterling could play through the middle.

Premier League Match Preview: Wolves vs Manchester United

Wolves slipped to a disappointing 2-0 defeat away to Burnley and have now won just one of their last six in the Premier League. Nuno’s side did, however, eliminate Manchester United from the FA Cup last month.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer won his first match as permanent Manchester United manager but the Red Devils were fortunate to come away with a 2-1 victory at home to Watford on Saturday. United had as many attempts as Watford had on target (8).

Wolves have generally been fantastic against top-six sides this season and you can almost certainly expect a hugely improved performance from them on Tuesday compared to their display against Burnley.

Having already drawn with and beaten United this season, the home side should be confident of coming away with at least a point in midweek.

Premier League Match Preview: Arsenal vs Newcastle United

A five-match unbeaten run has moved Arsenal to within one point of north London rivals Tottenham in the race for a top four finish.

They would be ahead of Spurs had Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang converted his late penalty at Wembley earlier this month, but Unai Emery will be pleased with how his team have performed in recent weeks.

A run of one loss in their last six has moved Newcastle seven points clear of the relegation zone and the Magpies will be growing increasingly confident of securing their top-flight spot.

That being said, they have lost their last six visits to the Emirates, conceding 18 goals in the process, so this match can be considered something of a free hit for the Magpies.

Newcastle won’t make things easy for Arsenal, but home advantage should ultimately prevail for the Gunners.

Premier League Match Preview: Liverpool vs Tottenham

Liverpool could well be one point behind Manchester City by the time this match kicks off, but the Reds will be confident of moving back to the Premier League’s summit on Sunday.

Liverpool haven’t lost a league game at Anfield to Tottenham since 2011, where goals from Rafael van der Vaart and Luka Modric compounded the Merseyside outfit to a 2-0 loss.

Tottenham, though, have lost their last three away league games and are in the midst of a four-match winless run, losing three. They have lost ground in the race for a top four finish and need a positive result here in order to stave off Arsenal and Manchester United in fourth and fifth, respectively.

However, Liverpool have dropped points just twice at Anfield this season and are unbeaten in 36 home league matches and should continue that run with victory here.

Team News

Liverpool- Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will give Trent Alexander-Arnold every opportunity to be fit in time for Sunday’s clash, with the right-back a doubt for the Reds.

Joe Gomez is back in training, but this game will come too soon for the youngster, so Joel Matip should continue alongside Virgil van Dijk in defence. Various Betting Options are available on NaijaBet

Xherdan Shaqiri and Naby Keita will both be assessed ahead of kick off, but Alex Oxlade Chamberlain is expected to be miss out here as he steps up his recovery from a knee problem. Continue reading “Premier League Match Preview: Liverpool vs Tottenham”

Premier League Match Preview: Fulham vs Manchester City

Fulham are in the midst of a seven-match losing streak and their difficult run continues with the welcome of Manchester City. The meeting with the champions will be their fourth game against the Premier League’s Big Six in their last seven league matches, and fourth successive welcome of the top six.

Manchester City will look to move top of the table with a win over the Cottagers. They have won 10 of their last 11 league matches, though away from home, they have lost three of their last seven.

That being said, this should be a routine win for City at Craven Cottage.

Team News

Fulham- Scott Parker has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the welcome of Manchester City.

However, the Fulham boss remains without Alfie Mawson and Marcus Bettinelli here, while Andre Schurrle will be assessed ahead of this one.

Ryan Sessegnon could come into the side as Parker aims to correct a seven-match losing streak.

Manchester City- Manchester City boss has Pep Guardiola has a injury crisis at the back, with Aymeric Laporte his only fully fit centre-back coming into Saturday’s visit to Fulham.

Fernandinho, Kevin De Bruyne, Benjamin Mendy and Fabian Delph will all be assessed ahead of their trip to Craven Cottage. Continue reading “Premier League Match Preview: Fulham vs Manchester City”

Premier League Match Preview: Everton vs Liverpool

Everton and Liverpool both picked up much-needed victories in midweek. Everton won 3-0 away to Cardiff while Liverpool tanked Watford 5-0.

Liverpool could be down to second by the time this match kicks off and the pressure will be on Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Everton, however, are winless in the last 18 Merseyside derbies, last winning one back in 2010.

Team News

Everton- Kurt Zouma has served his suspension and is expected to replace Phil Jagielka in Everton’s backline. Yerry Mina is also an option after recovering in time to make the bench in midweek.

Andre Gomes will hope to replace Morgan Schneiderlin in central midfield but no other changes are expected from the side that beat Cardiff 3-0 on Tuesday.

Liverpool- Roberto Firmino missed out in midweek but Jurgen Klopp expects the Brazilian to be available on Sunday. Continue reading “Premier League Match Preview: Everton vs Liverpool”

Premier League Match Preview: Manchester United vs Southampton

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer extended his unbeaten league record as Manchester United boss to 11 matches in midweek after winning 3-1 away to Crystal Palace. That result was one of the most impressive under Solskjaer, as United had nine first-team players out injured.

Southampton moved out of the bottom three on Wednesday night after beating relegation rivals Fulham 2-0. Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side have only lost one of their last five matches away to United.

With at least one of Arsenal or Tottenham due to drop points in Saturday’s early kick-off, United have a great chance to close the gap on those above them in the table and they need to capitalise on that here.

Team News

Manchester United- Of Manchester United’s 10 injured players, Marcos Rojo and Marcus Rashford recovered to make the bench in Wednesday’s 3-1 win over Crystal Palace. The latter will return to the starting XI here.

Fred and Alexis Sanchez failed to impress on their audition for a regular starting berth and could both be demoted to the bench here. Various betting options are available on Site

Tottenham have lost successive Premier League matches and now need to look over their shoulder with Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea closing in. Defeat here would leave Arsenal only one point behind them.

Arsenal warmed up for Saturday’s North London derby with a 5-1 win over Bournemouth. They will be full of confidence heading into Saturday’s early kick-off and will hope to have caught Tottenham at the perfect moment.

The Gunners have failed to score in their last two away matches to Tottenham and are winless in the last three. You’d expect Unai Emery’s side to find the back of the net here but whether they will have enough to beat their rivals remains to be seen.

Premier League Match Preview: Chelsea vs Tottenham

Chelsea lost Sunday’s Carabao Cup final and there are fresh questions about Maurizio Sarri’s future at the club. Chelsea played well but the performance was marred by an explosive exchange between Maurizio Sarri and first-choice goalkeeper Kepa.

Tottenham missed the opportunity to close the gap on the Premier League’s top two after losing 2-1 away to Burnley on Saturday. Mauricio Pochettino’s side have only won one of their last six matches at Stamford Bridge in all competitions.

Chelsea are not in great shape heading into Wednesday’s London derby. This is a testing week for Sarri after seeing his authority undermined by Kepa on Sunday. He will be desperate to get three points in midweek and stay in touch with Manchester United and Arsenal in the race to finish fourth.

Team News

Chelsea- Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri will surely make changes from the side that lost on penalties to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup on Sunday.

Kepa Arrizabalaga’s place in the team is uncertain. The Chelsea No.1 had a blazing row with Sarri at the end of extra-time after refusing to be substituted. Cesar Azpilicueta also seemed to engage in a war of words with the Chelsea manager. Bet Now on NaijaBet

Premier League Match Preview: Crystal Palace vs Manchester United

Crystal Palace will be high on confidence after thrashing Leicester 4-1 on Saturday. The Eagles are now unbeaten in their last six matches in all competitions.

Manchester United are still unbeaten in the Premier League under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (10 matches) after Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Liverpool.

United were forced to use all three of their substitutions in the first half against Liverpool and will be delighted with their point earned. They did, however, fall out of the top four as a result.

Solskjaer has barely put a foot wrong as United interim manager but injuries are stacking up for the Red Devils and they play away to an in-form Palace side on Wednesday.

Team News

Crystal Palace- Mamadou Sakho was forced off with an injury in Crystal Palace’s 4-1 win over Leicester on Saturday and miss out in midweek.

Premier League Match Preview: Manchester City vs West Ham

Manchester City have won their last six competitive meetings with West Ham, scoring 24 goals in the process, so it will be up to former boss Manuel Pellegrini to stop the rot on Wednesday and try to cause an upset that would dent his old club’s title bid.

The visitors will certainly be buoyed by the fact that City had to come through 120 minutes at the weekend, picking up injuries to key players along the way, and Pep Guardiola has made it clear that the mounting absences are likely to have an effect on his side’s performances.

At home anything but a win for the champions would still be a shock but the Hammers have posed problems for the Citizens at the Etihad in recent seasons and could do so once more.

Team News

Manchester City- Pep Guardiola will no doubt rotate his squad after the Carabao Cup final went all the way to penalties and will be forced into at least two changes.

John Stones, Aymeric Laporte and Fernandinho were forced off with injuries, so defensively the Spaniard is short of options. Benjamin Mendy has trained for the last few days, however, and will make the squad. Various Betting Options are available on NaijaBet for today’s games

Chelsea bounced back from their 6-0 defeat to Manchester City with a less-than convincing 2-1 win over Malmo on Thursday.

Paris Saint-Germain dealt Ole Gunnar Solskjaer his first defeat as Manchester United manager in midweek and now the Red Devils need a response after a lame performance.

This is potentially be a huge match for both managers. Sarri is still under pressure, while a successive defeat for Solskjaer would seriously dent his ambitions of getting the job on a full-time basis.

United have not won at Stamford Bridge since 2012 and have generally struggled away to Chelsea since then.

Premier League Match Preview: Manchester City vs Chelsea

Manchester City moved back to the top of the Premier League table on Wednesday night as they overcame Everton 2-0, however they may start this clash in second depending on the outcome of Liverpool’s welcome of Bournemouth on Saturday.

That being said, City are only top on goal difference, while the Reds have a game in hand on their title contenders.

Chelsea breezed past Huddersfield last weekend, but they have lost their last three away games in all competitions, succumbing to defeat at Tottenham, Arsenal and Bournemouth since the turn of the year.

They’ve also won only one of their last five visits to the Etihad Stadium, though won the reverse fixture 2-0 as goals from N’Golo Kante and David Luiz ruined City’s chances of an unbeaten season.

City look set to add to Chelsea’s recent away woes and exact revenge on the 2-0 loss at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season. The result should move the champions back to the top of the table, unless Liverpool can make up a seven-goal difference between the pair this weekend.

Man City main objective is to retain EPL title – Guardiola

Pep Guardiola insisted Manchester City’s 2-0 victory at Everton proved they are determined to win their title fight with Liverpool as the champions returned to the top of the table on Wednesday.

It was a far from inspired performance from City at Goodison Park, but goals from Aymeric Laporte and Gabriel Jesus ensured they knocked Liverpool out of pole position on goal difference.

Liverpool had occupied first place since December 8, but now the pressure is on Jurgen Klopp’s side just five weeks after they could have moved 10 points clear of City.

With Liverpool showing signs of nerves after two successive draws damaged their bid for a first English title since 1990, City took advantage in a fixture which was brought forward due to their League Cup final date with Chelsea later this month.

It was a crucial victory and City manager Guardiola claimed his players have no intention of letting Liverpool off the hook now. Place bet on Virtual Games 24/7 on NaijaBet

Arsenal will be down to sixth in the table by the time this match starts if Manchester United avoid defeat at home to Brighton in one of Saturday’s fixtures.

The Gunners were streaks ahead of United prior to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s appointment but have endured a terrible run of two wins from their last five league matches.

Chelsea haven’t been much better either of late. Maurizio Sarri’s side have suffered a dip in form and haven’t won a match by more than a one-goal margin since beating Manchester City 2-0 over a month ago.
