The City boss says the youngster underwent a successful operation on Thursday but admits he does not know when he will be fit again.

Jesus had surgery on a broken bone in his right foot on Thursday and is expected to be out of action for between two to three months, with some of that time spent back in Brazil. Place Bet 👉

Sutton ready to add more woes to Wenger’s burden

The manager of Sutton United will have no qualms about doing all he can to add to the burden of Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger when their teams meet in the last 16 of the FA Cup.

The tie of the fifth round, at least for those who still believe in the “romance of the Cup”, sees non-league Sutton at home to joint-record 12-times Arsenal on Monday.

Arsenal will make the trip from north to southwest London, for a match on the artificial pitch at Sutton’s Gander Green Lane ground, with Wenger under intense pressure following a humiliating 5-1 loss away to German giants Bayern Munich in the first leg of a last 16 Champions League tie.

That defeat came hot on the heels of a recent shock league loss to Watford and an ensuing, rather more predictable defeat by Chelsea that between them appeared to have scuppered he Gunners’ hopes of a first Premier League title since 2004. Predicts, Place Bet on FA Cup Matches & Win Big on

Even those once loyal to veteran manager Wenger, in charge at Arsenal since 1996, have started to question whether the 67-year-old Frenchman will seek a renewal of his contract when it expires at the end of the season. Continue reading “Sutton ready to add more woes to Wenger’s burden”

Fletcher tip United for title success under Mourinho

The ex-Red Devils midfielder is convinced that the Premier League will be captured under the Portuguese, as well as at least one trophy this season.

Jose Mourinho has been backed to return the Premier League title to Manchester United by former Red Devils midfielder Darren Fletcher, a man recently dubbed Sir Alex Ferguson’s ‘techer’s pet’ by Rio Ferdinand.

The Scotland international enjoyed considerable success during his time at Old Trafford, with four top-flight crowns and a Champions League triumph among his roll of honour.

He thrived in a side bossed by his a legendary countryman, with United still rebuilding in the wake of Ferguson’s departure.

They are, however, showing signs of promise under Mourinho, with the Portuguese having overseen a 16-game unbeaten run in the Premier League. Continue reading “Fletcher tip United for title success under Mourinho”

Pochettino to build away winning mentality

Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-0 defeat at Liverpool on Saturday left them without an away win against any of their rivals in the top six and manager Mauricio Pochettino knows his most pressing task at the north London club is to build a winning mentality.

Spurs sit third in the Premier League, 10 points behind leaders Chelsea, and of their 14 wins this season, 10 have come at home. In addition to losing at Liverpool, they lost to Manchester United and Chelsea away, and drew with Manchester City and Arsenal.

The lack of success in tough away matches is part of the reason Totten- ham have won just one piece of silverware over the past 10 years (League Cup in 2008) and have not won the league since 1961.

“Maybe I will have time to improve that and change it. Maybe not,” he told British media. “That is football. It’s about winning. That is the hardest job to change. It’s not about tactics or philosophy.

“It’s about one aspect that you need time for. You need time to build that winning mentality. Continue reading “Pochettino to build away winning mentality”

Leicester have a united dressing room – Ranieri

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri said on Tuesday he was not unsettled by speculation about his future as the Premier League champions slip towards the relegation zone.

Leicester have struggled to find the form that defied all odds and propelled them to the title last season, but the Italian said he was still leading a united dressing room.

“For me it (the speculation) was nothing because every week I speak with my owner and we have a very good relationship. When something goes wrong the media try to understand why,” he said at the Laureus World Sports Awards in Monaco. Naija and Bet

Leicester gave Ranieri a massive vote of confidence last week, saying the experienced Italian would be given the chance to turn things around at the struggling Midlands club. Continue reading “Leicester have a united dressing room – Ranieri”

West Brom targeting PL 7th spot – Evans

West Bromwich Albion cannot afford to take their foot off the pedal in the Premier League as they push for a possible European spot, defender Johnny Evans has said.

West Brom have consolidated their eighth place in the league with a four-game unbeaten run and, with 13 matches left to play, hope to ambush Everton in seventh for a possible Europa League place. NaijaBet

“Everton are still four points ahead of us, we want to catch Everton, that’s the next aim, you’re always looking above you. West Ham are trying to catch us,” Evans told British media.

“We haven’t talked about specific targets. I know the manager will say we get to 40 points and work from there, exactly like Leicester City did last season. Continue reading “West Brom targeting PL 7th spot – Evans”

Gabriel Jesus suffers fractured metatarsal injury

The Brazilian was forced off early on in Monday’s Premier League victory over Bournemouth and is now facing up to a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus’ stunning start to life in the Premier League has been brought to an abrupt halt after he suffered a fractured metatarsal.

According to reports, the Brazil striker could be sidelined for up to three months, although City have not put a timescale on his recovery.

Jesus went down early in the first half of Monday’s 2-0 victory over Bournemouth and received treatment on the field before making way for Sergio Aguero at the Vitality Stadium. Predict to night’s Matches on

Arsenal lacks defensive discipline – Mertesacker

The Gunners skipper believes the potential is there for Arsene Wenger’s side to be “resolute”, but feels they have not shown those qualities enough.

Per Mertesacker believes “defensive discipline” has been lacking at Arsenal this season, despite the potential being there for Arsene Wenger’s side to be “resolute”.

Guardiola rejects title talk despite City win

Pep Guardiola is refusing to talk up his team’s title credentials despite three successive league wins taking Manchester City to within eight points of leaders Chelsea.

A 2-0 win at Bournemouth on Monday saw City leapfrog three sides and climb into second place after a goal in each half was enough to see off the challenge of Bournemouth at The Vitality Stadium.

But Guardiola conceded that he can’t imagine Chelsea letting such a commanding lead slip in the remaining thirteen games of the season.

“It’s so difficult because they have to lose three games and you have to win all the games and you know how difficult it is to win all the games in the Premier League,” said Guardiola.

“Now before the game we were sixth and after the game we are second.

“That means the gap in those teams is nothing. But to Chelsea, still the gap is massive. Eight points is such a lot.” Continue reading “Guardiola rejects title talk despite City win”

Martinez want Arsenal to retain Wenger

The back-up goalkeeper hailed the Frenchman for helping to ‘build’ the Gunners and insists he wants to remain at the club despite being third choice.

Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has hailed manager Arsene Wenger and insisted he is happy to stay with the Gunners.

The 24-year-old Argentine is seen as third choice at the Emirates Stadium, with vastly experienced duo Petr Cech and David Ospina ahead of him in the pecking order.

Wenger has put faith in the former Independiente youngster this season, though, using Martinez in the EFL Cup, with the Gunners eventually being knocked out by Southampton in the quarter-final.

Martinez was rewarded with a new six-year contract back in November 2016 and, despite the pressure surrounding Wenger and his future, the goalkeeper has nothing but praise for the Gunners boss.

“It’s amazing that Arsene Wenger, one of the best coaches in the world, believes I’m the future of Arsenal. Just as amazing as having my contract renewed for six more years at the club, he said. Continue reading “Martinez want Arsenal to retain Wenger”

Match Preview : Bournemouth vs Manchester City

Manchester City are back in the top four after Gabriel Jesus’ late striker earned them a 2-1 win over Swansea. The summer signing has made a real impact since finally linking up with his teammates last month and City look in the groove, which is not good news for a struggling Bournemouth side.

Bournemouth are winless in six matches in all competitions and they are in slight danger of being dragged into the relegation fight if they are not careful. They are six points clear off the bottom three but need to get their act together quickly.

City have scored at least four goals in each of their last three meetings with Bournemouth and travel to the south coast with the Cherries really struggling for form. The signs suggest this match will only end one way.

Costa’s lack of goals is the team’s fault – Cahill

The Blues striker hasn’t scored in his last three league games, which means he is on his longest dry spell of the season, in front of goal.

Gary Cahill says that the entire Chelsea side has to shoulder the blame for Diego Costa’s lean spell in front of goal.

The Spain international has not scored in 329 minutes of football, his longest dry period of the season, but remains third in the scoring charts even after firing another blank in his side’s 1-1 draw at Burnley.

Pedro opened the scoring in that clash, but Chelsea were quickly pegged back by a Robbie Brady free-kick and failed to muster a single shot on target in the second half at Turf Moor. Naija and Bet

Centre-back Cahill believes that the forward needs to be better supported.

“The lack of goals did not even cross my mind to be honest, it’s a team thing,” Cahill said at Turf Moor. “I think we could have played a lot better than that and if we had played a lot better, then Diego gets a few more opportunities – it goes hand-in-hand.  Continue reading “Costa’s lack of goals is the team’s fault – Cahill”

I have to score 100 goals to stay at United – Ibrahimovic

Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho is keen for the enigmatic striker to stay at Old Trafford, but the Swede is yet to commit to another 12 months.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic insists his Manchester United future is yet to be decided, with the striker’s contract due to expire at the end of the season.

The Swedish veteran has been in fine form in his first Premier League season, scoring 20 goals in all competitions for United, and manager Jose Mourinho is keen for Ibrahimovic to stay for another year.

But despite reports that a clause in Ibrahimovic’s current deal regarding goals or appearances could trigger an automatic 12-month extension, the 35-year-old says his future remains up in the air.

“Something like that. I have to score 100 goals!” Ibrahimovic said after United’s 2-0 Premier League win at home to Watford on Saturday.

Leicester slump at Swansea is ‘unbelievable’ – Ranieri

Claudio Ranieri acknowledged Leicester City cannot continue hemorrhage defeats after Sunday’s 2-0 loss at Swansea City left the Premier League champions one point above the relegation zone.

Swansea defenders Alfie Mawson and Martin Olsson struck in the first half at the Liberty Stadium to condemn Leicester to a fifth successive defeat and 14th of the campaign in total.

Leicester manager Ranieri has seen his side go six league games without scoring and he knows something must change if their historic title success is not to be succeeded by a historic demotion.

“I wanted the start of a ‘new season’ today, but it is the same. It is unbelievable,” said the Italian, whose side sit one place above the bottom three with 13 matches of the season remaining.

“We started well, but their first two shots on goal are goals. It is very difficult to come back from that. It is unbelievable, this season. Continue reading “Leicester slump at Swansea is ‘unbelievable’ – Ranieri”

Conte still wary of Chelsea’s PL pursuers

Antonio Conte believes any of six teams could still win the Premier League despite his Chelsea side moving 10 points clear at the summit after drawing 1-1 at Burnley.

Chelsea negotiated a potentially difficult visit to Turf Moor on Sunday, where Burnley have the third-best home record in the division, behind only Chelsea themselves and Tottenham Hotspur.

But despite the solid result, and commanding lead at the top of the table over second-place Tottenham, Conte refused to discuss his team’s incre- asingly strong chances of winning the championship. Naija and Bet

“That’s normal. There are 13 games before the end,” said the Chelsea manager, whose side’s advantage will be cut to eight points if Manchester City win at Bournemouth on Monday.

“If someone thinks this league is finished, I can tell you now, no.

“There are six teams for me that can win the league and anything can happen. We must continue to work in this way. Continue reading “Conte still wary of Chelsea’s PL pursuers”

Match Preview : Burnley vs Chelsea

Chelsea are arguably set for a tougher task this weekend when they travel to Burnley compared to their match against title rivals Arsenal last time out.

Burnley have turned Turf Moor into a fortress this season, winning each of their last five on home soil. In fact, only Chelsea (33) and Tottenham (32) have picked up more points on home soil this season than the Clarets (28).

Chelsea have won both of their previous two meetings away to Burnley but they would be foolish to underestimate Sean Dyche’s side this weekend. Antonio Conte would allow for standards to slip here, however, and the Premier League leaders should at least maintain their lead at the top of the table, although it will be hard fought.

Conte warns Chelsea not to rest but focus

Chelsea may now be nine points clear at the top of the Premier League but Antonio Conte is experienced enough to know the title race is far from over.

Conte’s side make the trip to Burnley on Sunday in high spirits thanks to their 3-1 victory over title rivals Arsenal last weekend.

The Blues have won 16 of their last 18 league matches and are odds-on favourites to be crowned champions.

But Conte is not getting carried away because the Chelsea manager is well aware any slip could allow one of the chasing pack to close the gap.

“Until the end of the season you have to live with this pressure,” Conte said.

“If the opponent win they close the gap. If they don’t win you have the opportunity to take more points. But we have the experience to live with this situation. Continue reading “Conte warns Chelsea not to rest but focus”

Wenger and Klopp in search of lost victories

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and Liverpool counterpart Jurgen Klopp have their backs to the wall as their teams go in search of restorative victories in the Premier League this weekend.

Arsenal have fallen 12 points off the pace after successive losses against Watford and leaders Chelsea, while Liverpool are a point further back following a dismal sequence of five league games without victory.

Klopp’s men entertain second-place Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Saturday, with the German coach setting his team a daunting target of winning every league match for the rest of the season. Naija and Bet

“In my dreams we can win 14 games. I know how it sounds but I cannot change my dreams and that is what I am working for,” Klopp said.

“After these 14 games it is another moment when we watch back and we use all these experiences and all the things we learned about each other, and then we will make decisions that will help us in the next season. Continue reading “Wenger and Klopp in search of lost victories”

David Luiz is a Warrior on the pitch – Conte

The Blues boss has lauded his summer signing over his performances and also insisted that Willian and Cesc Fabregas remain important players.

David Luiz has been playing through the pain barrier and is still suffering with the knee injury he picked up against Manchester City in December.

The 30-year-old centre-back made his return to Chelsea in the summer in a deadline-day £32 million move from Paris Saint-Germain and has proved his critics wrong with a number of impressive performances.

And Conte has explained at a press conference at Cobham Training Centre on Friday that Luiz is still playing through pain but that he is a warrior that is able to cope with it. Naija and Bet

“Yes [everybody is fit to face Burnley], he [Luiz] is available,” he said. “He played and he is fit, he is good. For sure, he is playing with a little pain in his knee, but he is a warrior.

“I think he is playing very well and I am pleased for him, but I hope to continue in this way. For sure, he is showing me great attitude, great will to continue to fight despite sometimes having a bit of pain.” Continue reading “David Luiz is a Warrior on the pitch – Conte”

Match Preview : Liverpool vs Tottenham

Liverpool’s 2-0 loss at Hull means they have failed to win a Premier League game in 2017 and have won just once in all competitions this year. The Reds, though, are unbeaten in their last six against Spurs at home, winning four.

Tottenham fell to a 2-1 loss when these two teams met at Anfield in the EFL Cup earlier in the campaign, but will field a stronger XI here. They are unbeaten in the last four Premier League away games, winning two.

The north London side, though, could be held to a draw, prolonging Liverpool’s winless start to 2017 in the process.

Match Preview : Manchester United vs Watford

Manchester United are now only two points outside the top four after making it 15 league games without defeat at the weekend. With Liverpool and Tottenham set to face off this weekend they have the chance to move even closer to those currently above them in the Premier League.

Watford have won back-to-back games for the first time since January and their new signings have really made an impact for the Hornets. Dele Alli named PL Player of the Month

The Tottenham star edged out the likes of Harry Kane and Alexis Sanchez, with West Brom boss Paul Clement and Andy Carroll also recognised.

Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli has been named Premier League Player of the Month for January after scoring five goals to maintain the Londoners’ title push.
England international Alli beat off competition from team-mate Harry Kane as well as Everton full-back Seamus Coleman, Arsenal forward Al- xis Sanchez and Swansea City midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson after helping Spurs to three wins and two draws last month.
Alli, whose team are second, nine points behind Chelsea, said: “The team’s done very well this month, not just me individually.

“We’ve had lots of players in form so it’s an honour to win it.”

Bournemouth want Wilshere to stay – Howe

After years of suffering from injury problems at Arsenal, the midfielder’s loan has been a success so far and the Cherries boss hopes it doesn’t end.

Eddie Howe wants Jack Wilshere to stay with Bournemouth but says no talks have taken place over a permanent switch from Arsenal for the England international.

Persistent injury problems ruined Wilshere’s past two years at his boyhood club, where he fell down the pecking order and agreed a season-long loan with Bournemouth in order to play regular first-team football.

The move has proved a success in that regard, with the midfielder making 17 Premier League starts for the Cherries since August, but the 25-year-old revealed this week he is undecided over his future.

Wilshere is out of contract at Arsenal next season, adding to a sense of limbo around the player’s future, and Howe confirmed claims made by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger that Bournemouth are yet to make an approach for a transfer to be accurate. Naija and Bet

Match Preview : Arsenal vs Hull

Arsenal are now in danger of falling out of the top four following their 3-1 defeat to Chelsea last time out. Arsene Wenger’s side are only one point clear of Liverpool and two ahead of Manchester United heading into the final stretch of the season.

Hull’s incredible resurgance under Marco Silva continued at the weekend when they pulled off a fantastic 2-0 win over Liverpool to follow up from the 0-0 draw they managed with Manchester United the game before.

Surely they cannot record three positive results in a row against three of the biggest teams in the league?

United wouldn’t be happy with top-four finish – Carrick

The Red Devils midfielder says only winning silverware will make the Old Trafford squad happy and allow them to attract “the best players” to the club.

Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick insists a top-four finish in the Premier League would be no reason to celebrate.
